This course is suitable for people who would like to learn how to use and maintain a chainsaw safely. It covers the following:

Operational maintenance of chainsaws
Chain selection and sharpening
Select and use the required PPE
Cutting techniques for felled timber
Fell Trees Manually (basic)

Accreditation
This is a non-award course and a Statement of Attainment will be issued for nationally recognised units of competency successfully completed.

Entry Requirements Domestic

A Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) evaluation helps identify any areas where you may need additional support to help you achieve your goals.

To gain entry into the VTP555 Operate and Maintain Chainsaws, candidates are required to:

be 16 years or older and physically capable of using a chainsaw, and
not be attending secondary school, and
be able to demonstrate appropriate language, literacy, and numeracy skills and knowledge to undertake this course. This is demonstrated if you have completed a qualification deemed equivalent to an Australian Year 11 or higher, Australian Certificate III or higher, or by completing a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) assessment
