| This unit addresses the core competencies and the evidence base required to manage Emergency and Disaster Management programs. Students will develop an understanding of the crisis leadership and emergency management principles, the tools necessary to design and implement these programs and gain an overview of the compliance frameworks for Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia- Pacific region. This unit also provides a comprehensive introduction to decision making under uncertainty and complex coordination mechanisms in large scale disaster events. Students will also learn how to communicate crisis and risk in the context of managing epidemics, climate change, natural hazards, biosecurity and and human made hazards.
