| Preservice teachers will develop positive and research-informed approaches to teaching mathematics to young children. Prior learning of developmental theories and play pedagogy will be applied to demonstrate a range of teaching methods and strategies. This will include play-based approaches, inquiry, and explicit instruction for engaging and enhancing children's mathematical language, thinking and development across approved curricula The Early Years Learning Framework, My Time Our Place and the Australian Mathematics Curriculum will be examined. Preservice teachers will develop confidence in educational leadership and demonstrate effective curriculum planning in mathematics. |
