In Introduction to Clinical Practice, students will focus on both the professional and foundational clinical skills that are required to engage successfully in audiological clinical practice as student audiologists. Students will consider issues around professional conduct and communication, scope of practice, and ethics. Students will also build on their practical understanding of what it means to provide person-centred care. Through the use of clinical simulation and a fully supported clinical experience, students will have the opportunity to develop key clinical skills through trial and error in a safe, controlled setting before moving on to practice in real life. Students will also utilise tools such as critical self-reflection, goal setting, and peer and instructor feedback to direct their own learning.
Students are expected to attend a 5 day face-to-face intensive as part of their learning for this unit. This intensive is co-taught with AUD501. Part-time students are recommended to enroll in both AUD501 and AUD502.
