This unit invites students in Music and other disciplines to consider Choral Music as an art form to contribute to the music world of the Northern Territory and beyond. It provides comprehensive training and practical experience in choral singing, collaborative performance and ensemble leadership. This unit explores the rich traditions of choral music across various genres and historical periods while developing your vocal technique, musicianship, and ensemble skills.
Throughout the semester, you will delve into diverse repertoire ranging from classical masterworks to contemporary compositions. Emphasis is placed on refining vocal quality, intonation, blend, and ensemble cohesion through regular rehearsals and performances. You will also explore interpretive aspects of choral singing, including expression, phrasing, diction, and stylistic nuances.
By the end of the unit, you will have enhanced your vocal proficiency, musical sensitivity, and ensemble performance skills, preparing for further study or engagement in professional and community choral settings.
