This unit introduces preservice teachers to key theories in early childhood language and literacy development. Preservice teachers will develop their knowledge of the principles and processes relevant to the acquisition of language and the development of literacy learning. Pre-service teachers will analyse the planning cycle and apply knowledge of effective pedagogies for literacy and language development, as outlined in the Early Years Learning Framework and Australian Curriculum (Foundation).
