Unit Description

This unit examines how safety and quality can be led across a diverse workforce. The provision of healthcare by service providers is complex, involving large teams across a range of roles. Achieving safety and quality across large teams with different roles and backgrounds can be challenging. This unit will examine how workforce management influences health service delivery and how safety and quality, leadership and management teams can navigate team dynamics to build capacity and innovation. Using case-based scenarios and inquiry-based learning students will build knowledge and skills required to lead safety and quality in diverse teams.

Important Information

This unit is only available to students enrolled in the USQHC1 Graduate Certificate of Safety and Quality in Health Service Delivery and SCNU01 Master of Clinical Nursing.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Critically reflect on health workforce dynamics and the principles used to engage a diverse health workforce.
2.	Critique and justify the underpinning attributes of an effective leader of safety and quality in health care.
3.	Exemplify effective communication strategies that are used to lead safety and quality in healthcare.
4.	Critically examine team dynamics and strategies utilised to create cohesive teams with shared goals to advance safety and quality.
5.	Formulate culturally safe practices and approaches that embrace diversity in organisations.
