In order to effectively advocate and act for social change that can improve the lives of marginalised and vulnerable communities, one needs to know how to engage the capacities and resources of such communities. This unit will provide students with the knowledge, values and practical skills to promote social change that can improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Students will become familiar with factors that motivate people to become advocates, they will investigate the characteristics and attributes of advocates, and they will develop their own personal advocacy style in real-life applications.
