| This unit provides students with a higher-level understanding of special topics in peace and justice studies. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of concepts and issues involved in each special topic. Topics include social movements, nationalism and violence, human rights and human trafficking, social change, and environmental security and climate change and other matters that concern contemporary society for peace, cohesion, and prosperity. The unit engages with language and communication, media, and discourse; and explores the depiction of special topics in popular culture. The unit connects students to a diverse range of perspectives on the vital interests of countries and communities. Students will develop effective oral and written communication skills, research, and interpersonal skills. |
