This unit explores mental health across the lifespan, highlighting the unique challenges and considerations at various life stages. The unit focuses on the biopsychosocial model of health, to examine the impact of biological, psychological, and social factors in both mental illness and recovery at different life stages. The unit explores evidence-based strategies to support families and carers and examines the impact of support systems on recovery. Through inquiry-based learning and case studies students are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver effective, evidence-based, and holistic mental health care across the lifespan.
This unit is only available to students enrolled in the UMHLN1 Graduate Certificate of Mental Health Nursing and SCNU01 Master of Clinical Nursing.
