This unit explores the intricate nature of self-injury and provides students with a comprehensive understanding of underlying causes and contexts. The unit will examine the roots of aggressive behaviour in a mental health setting and provide insights into the triggers of aggression, with a special emphasis on identifying risks, and de-escalation techniques to effectively manage challenging situations. The unit will also address paranoia and delusions, empowering nurses with the knowledge and strategies to provide empathetic and supportive care to consumers experiencing these symptoms. Through a holistic and evidence-based approach, students will learn the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the multifaceted aspects of behaviour management in mental health nursing.
This unit is only available to students enrolled in the UMHLN1 Graduate Certificate of Mental Health Nursing and SCNU01 Master of Clinical Nursing.
