This unit examines the nature and purpose of research within the built environment, how concepts and theories are applied within the discipline, the process of identifying research problems, and how to develop research questions. The focus is centred on developing students' research, writing and communication skills that apply to both professional and scholarly contexts. Students will learn critical thinking skills, qualitative and quantitative research methods for data collection, data analysis and synthesis and will apply these skills to a small professional practice-oriented research project.
