| This unit consolidates contemporary architectural theory and discourse from interconnected disciplines, establishing a continuum from premodern theory to current theories influencing architecture practice today. Students explore the relationship between the social, political, economic and environmental context, current theoretical discourse and how this influences their own views and design approach. Students engage with architectural debate locally and globally, learn the importance of being theoretically rigorous in practice and, importantly, to develop an informed theoretical position based on their own understanding, values and belief systems. |
