| This unit explores the work of contemporary First Nations creatives, activists and thinkers, considering social, political and historical contexts, and reflecting upon narratives of identity, connectivity, Country, language, community and legacy. You access a rich bank of First Nations music, art, poetry, screen-based and digital works, as well as First Nations academic, literary and political texts that articulate contemporary aspirations and concerns. You consider the contributions of First Nations activists, thinkers and creatives to national conversations on truth-telling and Treaty, developing skills in critical thinking and reflexivity. The unit also examines the forms and technologies used in First Nations art-making today, looking at the national and international significance of artworks and texts. |
