This unit launches creative arts students into careers in the arts sector by showcasing their creative practice through portfolios and Showcase events, including exhibitions, screenings, performances and presentations. Industry and community members are invited to experience the artwork and meet the emerging artists. Students are encouraged to engage with their local creative arts sector as well as introduced to national and international networks.
Students develop ideas for a Showcase and learn how to work effectively with each other to present creative work, managing resources within a timeframe and budget, to present and promote events and activities (online and/or in-person). Students bring their individual creative practice from across the major disciplines to this unit. Some of the artwork may be created individually (for instance visual art pieces or a singer/songwriter piece); some artworks may be created in groups (for instance a short film or a theatre performance). Students curate their best work into a portfolio to showcase online. Students network with their peers and relevant industry professionals in readiness for a professional career.
