This is the first of two Medical Nutrition Therapy units in the Master of Dietetics. Students are introduced to the nutrition care process, taking diet histories, modalities for the nutritional assessment of individuals and Problem, Etiology, Symptom (PES) statements. It focuses on the role of medical nutrition therapy in the prevention and treatment of clinical diseases and disorders. Students will develop clinical knowledge, problem solving skills, and clinical reasoning relevant to nutrition disorders, including aetiology & pathophysiology, as well as nutrition care processes including assessment, diagnosis, nutrition intervention planning, intervention evaluation and outcome management.
