Unit Description

This unit involves an integrated placement of community and public health nutrition and/or food systems and services, and clinical practice. This integrated placement mirrors the generalist dietetic skills required in practice. Students will participate in 12 weeks of full-time supervised work placement across a range of locations which may include regional, rural, or remote areas. Work placement will be in a health or community government or non-government organisation supervised by an Accredited Practising Dietitian. The focus of this placement will vary to ensure diverse placement experiences.

Important Information

Students will require confirmation from the Course Coordinator of their DET603 placement, prior to unit enrolment. Online enrolment is not available for this unit and special enrolment is required.

All placements are facilitated by CDU staff, and students should not arrange their own placements. This is to ensure placements meet all of the criteria required by CDU, and the external accreditation body.

Please note, that to undertake the placement units within your course, you will need to complete all of the pre-placement requirements and be compliant for the workplace. Some of these take up to 6 months to complete, so it is recommended that you ask your course coordinator about these requirements once you have enrolled in the course (and at the beginning of the year if you are re-enrolling). Please refer to CDU for further details on the placement requirements and other important information.

Finally, placements can often occur outside of the scheduled semester, so if you have any concerns, please speak to your course coordinator.

This unit is only available to students enrolled in the Master of Dietetics (SDIET1)
