Unit Description

In this unit, you will be introduced to key concepts in construction processes, such as:

principles of modern construction works - from the materials that shape our buildings, to the methods and technologies that bring them to life.
real construction processes and their planning, set up, and management on-site.
working with emerging digital tools to see how they improve accuracy, efficiency, and sustainability in the built environment.
investigating how sustainable design principles are applied in real construction projects.

By the end of this unit, you will understand how construction happens, and its application of technology.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Critically appraise fundamental construction principles, methods, and sustainable practices.
2.	Identify and evaluate alternative materials, including low-carbon and recycled options, for use in construction projects.
3.	Apply modern technologies, to collect, interpret, and analyse construction site data.
4.	Perform quantity estimation and material take-offs to support efficient and sustainable construction planning.
5.	Analyse potential construction challenges and select appropriate techniques, materials (sustainable), and technologies to optimise project outcomes.
6.	Communicate construction concepts, processes, and sustainability considerations effectively to a range of audiences.
