| Students who undertake this unit will develop their knowledge and understanding of how environmental policies have developed in Australia and internationally. Topics investigated include the environmental policy cycle, and a framework for developing, implementing and evaluating policy and instruments; the role and participation of different stakeholders in the policy landscape, and policy drivers impacting on management of natural resources. National and international environmental policy and their implications will be reviewed and explored with case studies through a policy framework, including sustainable development, climate change and carbon, biodiversity and threatened species conservation, protected areas, fisheries, marine and water policy and impact assessment. Policy successes and failures are also considered |
