Unit Description

This unit focuses on processes influencing wildlife populations, and methods and issues in wildlife management. On completion of the unit, students will have a sound basis for involvement in the design, analysis and implementation of wildlife management programs.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Critically reflect on the interplay between scientific knowledge and human values and their influence on wildlife management decisions and practice.
2.	Apply knowledge of ecological and population concepts to evaluate wildlife management issues.
3.	Research a broad range of primary literature relevant to wildlife ecology and management and apply to specific contexts.
4.	Conduct and critically reflect on simple population models as the basis for decisions about wildlife management and commercial harvest.
5.	Recommend wildlife management actions drawing on interpretations of survey and modelling data and an understanding of uncertainty.
