Unit Description

This unit introduces students to the use of Python and Earth Observation satellite image data to automate repetitive tasks and create reproducible workflows targeted at solving real-world problems, with a particular focus on environmental, agricultural, and natural resources management. The unit gives students a complete hands-on experience in obtaining and analysing satellite imagery and other spatial data. Students will apply remote sensing and machine learning techniques to explore real world problems. The learning outcomes strongly align with core requirements of geospatial roles in the private, government, and research sectors.

2.	Appraise image processing methods relevant for Earth Observation projects
3.	Justify a range of reproducible automated workflows to explore real-world environmental problems
4.	Critically evaluate approaches to retrieve, transform, and validate satellite imagery
5.	Defend programming techniques relevant to image analysis that address environmental problems
