This unit introduces students to the interconnected nature of the world around them through the lenses of science and humanities. Recognising that all humans have experiential understanding of science and humanities through their interactions in the world around them is a key element of this unit. Expanding on their own experiential learning, will enable pre-service teachers to apply a critical lens to science, nature and human connectedness through time and space. They will develop understanding and ability to critically engage with key questions about science in the context of local, national, and global citizenship. Through this learning, pre-service teachers will become equipped to connect natural, physical, and social worlds to provide learning contexts for children in early childhood settings. Engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives of interconnectedness will support development of critical thinking, expansion of knowledge and understanding of diversity of thought in science and humanities.
The Intensive 5 offering for this unit is only available to First Nations Teacher Education Hub students and is not available for online enrolment. To enrol, students will need to first consult with the unit coordinator before completing the Special Enrolment form accessed via the eForms tile through CDU Portal.
