Unit Description

In this unit, preservice teachers build on their understanding of the Australian Curriculum, by investigating and creating a unit of work that integrates multiple curriculum areas. Drawing on a range of pedagogical approaches, and applying evidenced based practice and theory, this unit will strengthen preservice teachers' skills in creating engaging teaching and learning that successfully covers a range of integrated curriculum outcomes. Preservice teachers will demonstrate their knowledge of the Australian Curriculum by integrating learning outcomes into a unit of work. Weekly sessions will act as a medium for critical and creative thinking to promote deeper reflection and consideration of issues that can arise in the teaching of an integrated unit of work.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Design and integrate learning experiences that promote critical approaches to lesson development that incorporates multiple curricula.
2.	Incorporate the General Capabilities into an integrated learning unit.
3.	Critically reflect on the Australian Curriculum and current literature to present content knowledge and pedagogical approaches appropriate to an integrated unit of work.
4.	Engage in collaborative discussions and critiques regarding the development of an integrated unit of work.
5.	Develop appropriate assessment strategies.
