This placement unit offers the student an advanced opportunity to acquire practical, hands-on experience within community-based, humanitarian, or development aid agencies. The student will be immersed in the day-to-day operational environment of these organisations across diverse settings, including remote, rural, and urban areas within Australia, as well as potentially in international locations, for a sustained duration.
The primary objective of this placement is to further develop the student's practical skills and provide substantive firsthand experience in the fields of community development, humanitarian assistance, or international development. This unit also serves to fulfil the professional practice requirements as outlined by Community Work Australia. The student will undertake tasks as mutually agreed upon by the host agency and the academic supervisor.
Successful completion of 240 hours of placement in HCS363 will satisfy the remaining fieldwork requirement mandated for course accreditation by Community Work Australia. This unit represents the culminating component of the program's practical experience requirement.
