Unit Description

This unit introduces students to education in practice focusing on the core skills required to create a safe and positive learning environment.This unit equips students with the knowledge and skills to foster a supportive learning environment, design effective learning scaffolds, and mitigate educational risks. The unit explores the multiple contexts and environments that health care professionals deliver education and the core attributes required to be a successful educator.

Important Information

This unit is only available to students enrolled in the UCLED1 Graduate Certificate of Clinical Education and SCNU01 Master of Clinical Nursing.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Apply contextual knowledge and essential attributes to establish a positive learning environment.
2.	Articulate and apply the core knowledge and skills underpinning effective delivery of clinical education and the related assessment and evaluation required.
3.	Critically evaluate the attributes that underpin effective facilitation of learning in preceptorship and education models.
4.	Critically review the underpinning pedagogy used to support learning in the different environments where clinical education occurs.
5.	Critically reflect on engagement with the learner and opportunities to promote a positive and safe learning experience.
