IAS261, IAS262 or equivalent (CHN261, CHN262, INI261, INI262, HEL261, HEL262, YOL261 & YOL262). Students may enter a higher level of language study but knowledge of previous levels will be assumed.

Unit Description

This unit is structured to extend students' existing language knowledge and skills to an advanced level. Students will increase their proficiency in spoken language and grammar, improving conversational and compositional language skills. Students will continue to engage with cultural and social issues related to their chosen language.

Please note that IAS362 is a generic languages code. Indonesian, Yolngu and Hellenic Studies are available for Semesters 1 and 2 under this code. Enrolments in Chinese are available in intensive mode only. To express interest in enrolling in a Chinese Language intensive please contact the Arts Coordinator.

Important Information

Online enrolment is not available for Intensive 4, the Greek in-country offering. To enrol, complete the Special Enrolment form accessed via the eForms tile through CDU Portal.

Students wishing to enrol in the Greek in-country offering should refer to the Greek In-Country Language program for further information.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Apply an advanced level of skills and knowledge to the speaking, reading and writing of language.
2.	Consolidate and expand language proficiency through complex comprehension and application tasks.
3.	Apply language skills to demonstrate acute cultural awareness from the perspective of the people of the target audience.
4.	Research and evaluate complex language materials as texts or conversations.
