Unit Description

This unit introduces techniques and methods that can lend empirical support to decision-making. Techniques introduced include several statistical methods that enable students to collect, process and present data (e.g., descriptive statistics, regression analysis, and forecasting). Understanding when and how to use the various techniques will be reinforced with practical problem-solving exercises and discussion questions during the unit. Upon completing this unit, students will apply statistical concepts to present both quantitative and qualitative data.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Identify, discuss and apply quantitative and qualitative tools and methods commonly used in decision making in private and public sector organisations.
2.	Apply an understanding of the various styles of presentation, description and analysis of descriptive data.
3.	Demonstrate an ability to draw conclusions about populations based on sample information.
4.	Critically examine forecasts made on variables of interest.
