Unit Description

This unit covers the fundamentals of multiple operating systems and their associated applications. Students will gain insight into both the differences and similarities between operating system architectures. This is the first of two units that prepare students to undertake the necessary examinations to qualify for an IT Professional Certification. The unit covers specific technologies and methodologies that will help provide students with knowledge and skills required by industry. To achieve an IT Professional Certification, students will have to pass an examination external to CDU. This unit is reliant on online materials. Students must have access to a reliable high speed broadband connection.

This unit is only available to students enrolled in YINTI1 Diploma of Information Teachnology.

1.	Explore the necessary components and functions of an operating system.
2.	Install and configure the operating system and device drivers.
3.	Setup and troubleshoot network connections and remote access.
4.	Manage application and effective resource sharing.
5.	Manage user access control and remote connections.
6.	Manage windows firewall and utility.
