This unit examines the principles of global health and social justice in nursing, focusing on reducing health disparities and promoting equitable care across diverse populations. Students will assess community health needs, analyse the social determinants of health, and develop evidence-based interventions to improve global health outcomes. Emphasis is placed on working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and local health organisations to deliver culturally competent and safe care in varied settings.
This is an elective unit for students who choose to undertake a global health experience, which will involve an international placement. The hours of the international placement may vary and do not contribute to the Australian based professional experience requirement of 800 hours.
