In this unit, you will continue to learn about the body, its function, dysfunction and associated nursing care. You will systematically examine the human body's structure (anatomy), function (physiology), and disease processes that affect homeostasis and normal function. You will focus on the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory, digestive, endocrine, reproductive, lymphatic and urinary systems. You will learn to collect, document and interpret data relevant to these body systems.
You will develop critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills as you collaborate with peers in tutorials and small groups to deconstruct selected case studies. Participating in the learning activities within this unit will assist you in integrating theory and practice.
You will apply the theory you learn in this unit in the simulated setting before attending your medical/surgical Professional Experience Placement. Using immersive and high-fidelity simulation teaching techniques, your second Simulation Block allows you to learn, and practice simulated clinical skills in a supportive environment.
To meet accreditation requirements, you must attend and pass an on-campus simulation block of 32 hours.
