Students will explore the role of the oral health therapist within the dental team, emphasising professionalism, ethics, and reflective practice. Students will learn about the anatomy of the oral cavity, dental caries, periodontal disease, and dental materials. The unit also focuses on maintaining accurate patient records, effective communication skills, and identifying support networks. The unit covers critical aspects of sustainable practice, infection control, and workplace health and safety procedures as defined by relevant professional and regulatory bodies.
