Unit Description

This unit is undertaken under the guidance of an academic supervisor through utilising teaching materials to conduct research that contributes to the delivery of the final Honours Thesis. The unit is part of the Honours Thesis unit sequence completed over two semesters (or equivalent), covering 60 credit points.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Demonstrate advanced proficiency in locating and retrieving digital and non-digital sources, and critically assess their reliability and relevance for scholarly research.
2.	Apply advanced logical and critical thinking skills to solve potentially complex research problems in innovative and creative ways.
3.	Demonstrate proficiency in reviewing and integrating theoretical knowledge and technical skills relevant to the chosen field of research.
4.	Apply appropriate methods to perform analyses and identify associated limitations and uncertainties.
5.	Apply sophisticated communication techniques to effectively convey scientific and technical information via written or spoken texts using a variety of graphical and numerical tools.
6.	Critically reflect on ethical, cultural and other societal considerations applicable to a field of research.
7.	Apply initiative, independence, and responsibility to effectively collaborate and contribute to the research process and society.
