Unit Description

In this exercise physiology unit, students will explore the functions and interactions of physiological systems in relation to exercise. Students will gain an understanding of how the body responds to exercise compared to rest, assessing and differentiating these responses. Students will learn to identify and interpret various physiological parameters relevant to exercise and health appropriately. Through theoretical study, students will develop the knowledge needed to analyse the complex interplay between the body's systems during exercise. By the end of the unit, students will emerge with a comprehensive understanding of exercise physiology relevant to various contexts.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Explain and communicate the functions and interactions of the physiological systems in relation to exercise to both expert and non-expert audiences.
2.	Differentiate the body's response to exercise from at rest.
3.	Appropriately measure, record and interpret multiple physiological parameters relating to exercise and health in remote or virtual contexts.
4.	Analyse and interpret physiological data obtained during acute exercise, and compare such data between time points, individuals, and populations.
