Unit Description

How does science work? How do scientists uncover the inner workings of the human body? In this unit, you will:

Explore how science works in the real world to learn about the human body.
Dive into the body of knowledge science has already developed about the human body through interactive classes, readings, videos and online activities.
Engage in practical classes that offer hands-on opportunities to think and work like a scientist, using the same methods to investigate the human body that researchers employ in scientific discovery.
Develop the essential scientific literacy skills needed to succeed in future science units at university.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Describe and explain how the human body functions as a biological system in the context of scientific investigations.
2.	Critically evaluate to what extent each experiment in the unit meets the requirements of a fair test in science.
3.	Evaluate different information sources to determine their credibility for use in scientific writing.
4.	Apply scientific literacy skills when writing scientific reports to meet scientific conventions and standards.
5.	Engage in critical reflection throughout the unit to demonstrate the development of independent learning skills.
