Unit Description

This unit brings together the contemporary digital environment and 21st century pedagogical practices. The centrepiece of activity consists of effective use of a university learning management system augmented by services and applications freely available within the open Web. This brings both flexibility and constraints, requiring that lecturers apply appropriate pedagogy and to be informed by the relationship between learning theory and effective teaching practice augmented by digital technologies. As a component of reflective practice, students are required to provide evidence of their teaching in their portfolio and engage with peers in critical discussions regarding the application of digital technologies in teaching and learning at CDU. Topics investigated include: analysis of the relationship between technology and pedagogy; frameworks for teaching in the digital age; teaching with technology and within the digital environment; and readiness: emerging technologies and practices.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Analyse, discuss, and critique contemporary pedagogical theories and practice related to the design and implementation of technology enhanced learning.
2.	Critique and review digital learning platforms for students across modes in higher education.
3.	Design, implement and evaluate collaborative online teaching sessions supported by digital technologies using appropriate pedagogy.
4.	Demonstrate skills and knowledge through developing an e-portfolio of digital technology resources and skills.
5.	Contribute to an online community of practice, leading discussions, sharing and receiving constructive feedback with others.
