Unit Catalogue

This unit includes an intensive 20-day clinical placement designed to consolidate and extend students' audiological knowledge and clinical competencies. Students will further develop real-world clinical skills, demonstrating increasing independence in the management of audiological cases and contributing to the assessment and management of more complex presentations, which may include paediatric assessment, objective testing, and hearing device provision.

Under the supervision of an accredited clinical audiologist, students will engage in reflective and evidence-informed practice across a range of clinical contexts. Emphasis is placed on clinical reasoning, professional judgement, and the delivery of safe, ethical, and client-centred audiological care.

Although every effort is made to locate a placement close to the student's place of residence, students should plan for the possibility of travel regionally and interstate.

All students are required to attend a 5-day face-to-face intensive at either the Casuarina or Sydney Campus as part of this unit. This unit also includes a clinical exam which is assessed face-to-face at the Casuarina or Sydney Campus during the intensive. This intensive occurs during the same week as the intensive planned for AUD515. Practice sessions for the clinical exam are held throughout the intensive week. Students will be expected to pay for their placement related expenses such as transport and accommodation.
