Unit Description

This unit introduces you to Building Information Modelling (BIM) as an information management approach supported by digital tools and technologies used across the construction project lifecycle. You will explore BIM theories, standards, and workflows, and learn how digital technologies--including AI--can support coordinated, data¿driven project delivery.

You will apply BIM¿enabled tools, manage construction information using industry standards, and develop digital strategies to improve project outcomes. Through practical and case¿based activities, you will build the capability to make informed, responsible decisions in complex construction environments.

This unit prepares you to lead and contribute to digital transformation in construction practice, with a focus on collaboration, sustainability, and professional standards.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Apply Building Information Modelling (BIM) and digital tools (including AI) to support coordination, risk management, cost control, and lifecycle management in construction projects.
2.	Manage construction information using standardised digital processes in line with industry standards and professional practice.
3.	Develop BIM¿enabled digital strategies to improve construction project outcomes and address ethical, organisational, sustainability, and cultural factors.
4.	Use standardised digital information processes and AI tools to manage construction information in line with relevant industry standards and practices.
