Unit Description

Building upon the foundation laid in HEA507 (Safety and Quality in Healthcare), this unit is designed to guide students in applying evidence-based safety and quality practices in their respective workplaces. It offers students the opportunity to further enhance their understanding of quality and safety standards, policy, leadership, and clinical governance. Using evidence and best practice students will be navigated through the quality and safety processes used by health care services and expected of accreditation organisations.

Important Information

This unit is only available to students enrolled in the USQHC1 Graduate Certificate of Safety and Quality in Health Service Delivery and SCNU01 Master of Clinical Nursing.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Review safety and quality practices within an organisation and identify an area of priority.
2.	Critically review resources utilised in measuring safety and quality in organisations.
3.	Collaborate with key stakeholders to report on quality and safety focus areas within a healthcare setting.
4.	Plan the implementation and evaluation of a quality and safety initiative within the healthcare setting.
5.	Critically reflect on practice and promote a collaborative approach to safety and quality that includes consumer engagement and embraces cultural safety.
