This unit is the first stage of your coursework masters thesis. Working with a supervisor, you take a research outline through to early findings: assessing sources, applying a method suited to your field, and beginning the analysis that will support your conclusions. The unit also develops the project-management habits needed to meet research deadlines and to work with care for the people and contexts involved. This is where planning turns into independent research, and completing it prepares you for Master Thesis B.
Online enrolment is not available for this unit. To enrol, students will need to first consult with their Course Coordinator before completing the Special Enrolment form accessed via the eForms tile through CDU Portal.
Please note: The Master Thesis is completed over two consecutive semesters through IAS801 and IAS802. The assessment requirements for IAS801 and IAS802 together comprise the full assessment of the Master Thesis. Assessment requirements for each unit are specified in the respective unit outline. Student will be awarded an administrative Not Examinable (NE) grade for IAS801. After achieving a final grade for the completed thesis, the same overall grade will be awarded for both IAS801 and IAS802. This will override the administrative NE grade of IAS801.
