In this unit you will apply critical thinking skills to plan evidence-informed, culturally safe and effective nursing care and extend your knowledge of the scope of the registered nurse. As you build your core nursing knowledge you will contextualise this knowledge to more specialised areas of practice such as primary health care, paediatrics, and advanced complex environments. You will develop a critical understanding of nursing priorities and the relevant policy and frameworks that guide practice. This will include examining the role of digital health technology and Artificial Intelligence in providing specialised nursing care. You will critically reflect on your future roles and responsibilities in striving for better health outcomes and improving access to safe, high quality and integrated healthcare for people with acute and complex health needs.
This unit will support you to develop knowledge and skills within the scope of the advanced beginner nursing student. This is the final simulation unit for your nursing studies which will prepare you for your remaining placements.
To meet accreditation requirements, you must attend and pass an on-campus simulation block of 32 hours.
