| This coursework unit deals with research methodologies relevant to law and legal scholarship. Students develop research and writing skills and lay the foundation for undertaking their research project and writing their thesis.
Topics include traditional concepts of research and the nature of legal research (including doctrinal research, reform-orientated research and theoretical research), research methodologies in relation to legislation and case law, sourcing information, electronic research techniques, research in a transnational legal context, research in the context of a changing domestic and international legal environment, planning and recording research, legal analysis and writing, and ethical issues.
Only students enrolled in the Bachelor of Laws Honours (VLAWH2) are eligible to enrol in this unit. Online enrolment is not available and Special Enrolment is required through eForms.
