Unit Description

This unit provides students with the fundamental knowledge of the physical laws applicable to human movements. These laws are essential to the understanding of how the human body interacts with its environment and the subsequent optimisation of human performance. Students will develop in depth knowledge of the internal and external forces acting on the human body and the effects produced by those forces.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Discuss the general properties of the human body important in biomechanics.
2.	Identify the relationship between biomechanics and the musculoskeletal system in human motion.
3.	Analyse the interaction between the human performer and the environment through the application of fundamental mechanical (pyhisics) laws and concepts.
4.	Analyse the relationships between static and dynamic forces in biomechanics.
5.	Develop a basic ability to use technology for biomechanical analysis and to solve biomechanical problems.
6.	Develop skills to acquire, interpret, and disseminate information and knowledge using various methods of delivery.
