Unit Description

Social media/marketing is becoming a preferred method to promote health and prevent disease and injury across social media and web-based platforms. This unit equips students with an understanding of contemporary social media and marketing concepts, tools and health literacy considerations that support a range of health education actions. Students will analyse challenges and key success factors related to the use of social media as communication tool in diverse population groups. This includes implementation, evaluation and legal requirements of modern social media
technologies used for health promotion and education.

1.	Discuss the development of social media and social marketing and the role this plays in health education and promotion strategies.
2.	Compare how social media and social marketing impacts health in diverse population groups.
3.	Implement and evaluate effective health literacy strategies when developing social media and social marketing campaigns.
4.	Consider challenges, legal requirements and key success factors related to use of social media as a communication tool.
