Unit Description

This is one of two work integrated learning experience units, which will allow students to apply their knowledge and skills in a professionally accredited diagnostic laboratory, where students will be trained by an experiences medical laboratory scientist within the core and specialized disciplines and develop a universal understanding of the role of a diagnostic laboratory. Within this context students will strengthen their understanding of a broad range of technical procedures and professional behaviours that are essential for employment within the laboratory. Students will be required to follow the rules and regulations of their workplace.

1.	Competently perform a range of laboratory techniques relevant to your discipline, with an understanding of pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical errors.
2.	Display professional and ethical behaviours suitable for a diagnostic laboratory.
