Indigenous pedagogies encompass a variety of Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing and understanding Indigenous pedagogies is fundamental to the application of the contemporary Australian curriculum. In this unit, pre-service teachers will examine the ways in which Indigenous educational philosophies can be applied to a range of teaching and learning contexts in senior secondary education. Pre-service teachers will critically analyse the concept of pedagogy and explore new approaches to learning and teaching which privilege Indigenous knowledges and pedagogies to meet the requirements of the Australian curriculum.
