This postgraduate unit seeks to develop and extend pre-service teachers' theoretical understandings and practical applications in the field of Health and Physical Education in senior secondary schools. This unit is designed around the structure and philosophy of the Australian Curriculum in Health and Physical Education in senior secondary. Pre-service teachers will develop skills in pedagogy and practice within the area of Health and Physical Education for the senior secondary years. Pre-service teachers will explore and appraise appropriate teaching and coaching strategies for a range of sports and physical activities. This unit will provide opportunities to examine and critique within the context of Health and physical education individual, family and community values and beliefs as well as the sociocultural and physical environment, in which we live, providing explanations for health and sustainable solutions for better health. The use of technologies is fundamental to this unit.
