Unit Description

In this post-graduate unit, pre-service teachers will critically analyse current educational policies that impact on practice. Foundational learning about Indigenous knowledges will be built on to enable pre-service teachers to address contemporary Indigenous issues of resilience and self-identity. These topics are particularly relevant to Indigenous students in the Junior Secondary Years of schooling. Pre-service teachers will analyse and describe relevant connections between curriculum priorities and student well-being.

1.	Critically analyse and synthesise pedagogical knowledge relevant to formal education settings.
2.	Apply professional knowledge to facilitate student learning.
3.	Collaborate with stakeholders to systematically implement and evaluate teaching and learning.
4.	Demonstrate proficiency in the use of technologies within professional practice.
5.	Critically evaluate the Australian Curriculum and demonstrate the roles and responsibilities schools and teachers have in implementing Indigenous knowledges and philosophies.
