Social media/marketing is fast becoming a preferred method to promote health and prevent disease and injury. This unit equips students with an in-depth understanding of contemporary social media and marketing concepts, tools and health literacy considerations that support a range of health education initiatives. Students will critically evaluate and analyse the factors influencing; the current success of programs and initiatives, future opportunities, and risks and challenges associated with the use of social media as communication tool in diverse populations. Students will also become familiar with relevant legislation and codes of conduct/practice when designing and implementing health promotion activities using social media technologies.
