Unit Description

In this unit students will develop advanced understanding of the structure of languages, with a focus on Indigenous Australian languages. With an emphasis on problem solving, practical analysis and description, students will learn how to analyse language patterns. The unit will provide students with insights into the importance of identifying and gaining a critical understanding of the similarities and differences presented in examples of texts from various Indigenous languages.

1.	Apply concepts and methods of phonological, morphosyntactic and semantic analysis and description to Australian Indigenous languages.
2.	Systematically, critically, and creatively describe and evaluate linguistic data from a variety of languages.
3.	Analyse a wide range of linguistic phenomena from Australian Indigenous languages.
4.	Conduct advanced and detailed analysis of linguistic data from an Australian Indigenous language.
