Unit Description

Leadership in all levels of healthcare is essential in creating collaborative culture, positive environments and achieving common health goals. Fundamental concepts and issues related to leadership in nursing and healthcare are explored in this unit as students transition from student to registered nurse.

Students will focus on contemporary innovative approaches to leadership in health care which contribute to maintaining nursing standards and person-centred care. Students will investigate key leadership responsibilities including risk management, clinical governance, quality improvement and change management.

The Semester Two offering is only available in 2022. As per the study plans, the unit will only be available in Semester One from 2023.

The Perth location is only available to International students and is not available for online enrolment. To enrol, Special Enrolment is required through eForms.

1.	Critically reflect upon the role of the registered nurse as a leader in the health care team in varying health contexts.
2.	Critically analyse concepts of management and leadership in nursing and health services.
